One of the best leisure pools in South Yorkshire. Certainly better than Sheffield’s Ponds Forge and Doncaster Dome. The facilities are ready for a refurb but on a whole it’s pretty good.The Douwe Egberts coffee is absolutely dreadful.
Visited their for a BJJ tournament. Facilities look good but the staff were super helpful. Asked if they had a prayer room which they didn’t. But the staff went out of their way to find me a space so I could pray in private. Super thankful and appreciate the effort for going the extra mile. A lot of place just say they don’t have a space and leave it at that. These guys made the extra effort which I appreciate.
Great waterpark for kids, with waves, slides and flumes. Food was OK.
Myself and 2 children age 15 and 6 all had a fantastic couple of hours here on Christmas Eve 2024. The place was busy but not full to capacity which I guess helped as we didn’t really need to queue up at all for the slides. Only one slide my 6 year old wasn’t able to use but all the others were fun and safe. My eldest enjoyed the faster slides and diving boards. Really difficult to find days out we all enjoy equally so this was perfect. Price wise £37 which I thought was fair as we got some decent exercise and all had fun. Didn’t stay to eat so unable to comment on this.
Bowling was good , I had a carvery that was very good and promptly served, Staff friendly and helpful, Experience was spoilt a bit as toilets had no water to wash hands , bar had no ice or lemon, three of the kids slot games not working. Hence 3 stars
Quality place, lots to do, definatley worth a visit plus town centre on door step as well, easily spend a full day here and in the town
Excellent place but a little downfall is not many mother/farther baby changing rooms other than that was a fab time for my daughters 1st birthday 🥰
Barnsley Healthy Hearts group held our annual function last night and it was 110% fantastic. Our thanks go out to ALL the staff on duty, great service and excellent food. Big shout out to Mick West our DJ. Well done everyone.
Went to Metrodome for our Christmas night out. Meal was absolutely delicious. Piping hot and well cooked. Generous portions too. Staff who looked after us were very friendly and helpful. DJ was really good. Played as many requests as he could. Excellent night!!
Excellent time, we went to the water park. Our family really enjoyed it. Was £37.50 for the 3 of us which I felt was fair for the price (Things are pricey nowadays)Would recommend.
It’s a lot of fun, my 4 year old son loves swimming, it’s minus a star because it is slightly expensive for the swimming

Went for toddler swim session, and little one loved it. So much for him to do, clean and very on theme all way throughout
Had a good time with my 10 year old daughter but the pool and building was not warm enough to be comfortable so only stayed in pool for 45 mins instead of the 90 mins I paid for, a little disappointed as travelled from Sheffield,Probably not returning for this reason.
Visited here recently, where a well organised boxing event took place. Good facilities, plentiful parking, friendly, helpful staff and the event itself ran smoothly.
Visited during our holiday. You buy a ticket per 90 minutes, so buy 2 tickets for more swimming time.Slides are fun, as are the springboards. The swimming pool is very full with guests in the (high) swimming season, which means long waiting times and little swimming space. Swimming pool is visibly outdated and not clean everywhere. Many pool staff are present and keep a close eye on safety. Pirate theme is fun, but not for all ages. 1x90min. would also suffice.
Lovely facilities, good water slides and a number of different ones covering all ages groups. Best in the area yorkshire for water slides.
Rob (swimming teacher) has done a fantastic job in teaching my son and 2 daughters to swim.He has shown great patience and understanding in teaching them but also made it fun where my children couldn’t wait for the next lesson! A credit to his profession, Barnsley Metrodome and mostly himself. Absolutely fantastic person.
Never been to an event of any sort here, this was my 1st, it was Barnsley FC legends night and it was really enjoyable, it was sold out but there was no overcrowding around the bar area and plenty of room to enjoy your drink. Would recommend this venue.
Not been here for years for different activities.Me and the wife took the granddaughter swimming and was really impressed, she didn’t want to get out.We went to the restaurant afterwards, the blonde lady was really above helpful by explaining how everything works( we were lost lol) meal was brilliant (Sunday carvery but table service)back very soon 😀.
Went to see a soul and motown night. Really well organised. Had a fabulous time.
Great for swimming with young kids plenty of slides and a great toddler pool
Great leisure centre but swimming is massively overpriced for low income families. £35 for 1 hour for a family of 4.
Overall clean good for the money slides were fun would suggest going early food was on point for value and quality only minor complaint burgers could do with a little salt to increase the flavor
Great place, slides and waves really make it here too, I haven’t been here in years but remember alot and its still as good a visit, the Hideout cafe overlooking the pool is fab (nice veggie burger) and children’s hot meal box’s.
Great place, lots of fun. However, far too crammed with people to enjoy much time in the wave pool, got elbowed and kicked several times because of it so probably won’t visit again with my nephew as its not really safe for kids until they lower the numbers of people in at the same time.
Great place. Ran really well, the staff are extremely friendly…..why wouldn’t they be, this is Barnsley, everyone is kind here.
Good swimming pool with a kiddie area, long sessions, big changing rooms with plenty of space, could do with proper hair dryers
Whilst it felt good value for money and we did enjoy it , the whole place seemed not a clean as it should be.
Attended the Young Champions Awards. Well organised and a good night out. Well done to all involved.
What a lovely trip out travelled from nottingham for a decent swimming pool and didn’t dissappint it pirate themed with 4 slides. A bowl, a green one which is curvy and fast a black one which is dark with lights and fast. Then a slide with 3 lanes which race. A toddler water park area, diving . boards. With glass window so you can see them which I thought was cool. The water temperature was just right. Changing rooms and toilets was clean. Lots staff In changing room mopping. To say we went at half term it was busy but didn’t feel it due to there 2 que system. We also had food and it wasent too bad prefer the restaurant to the crows nest underneath it was affordable and not to long to wait. It also as bowling alley some arcades and can get a deal swim and bowl. My only downfall was staff just assumed we been before so didn’t know where we had to go. She eventually told us downstairs then after changing rooms there no arrow to pool. So just few signs would help. Also to mention lots parking and close to the city center and train station so would make full fab day out.
1hr 30 slot, is not enough time especially for a family got no time to relax and enjoy the water park thats Why I won’t be returning. Also is it so hard to set up a que system at bottom of stairs for rides. Sort out all the chaos of people pushing past each other, also time for riders who qued longer for no reason.
Great facilities and great staff. Expensive as a pay-as-you-go location but their membership options are well priced.
I’m having adult swimming lessons I was under the impression that this included access to swimming sessions, I had this conformed by emailAs I keep getting asked for a membership cards, I spoke the centre I am having lessons at just to be told you do free swimming for adults having lessons even though I haven’t had any issues over the past month. It seams like the left hand doesn’t know what the right had is doing
Far too busy. Took our 2 year old Granddaughter and there were older kids just running riot in the toddler area. Dirty changing rooms and generally not a lot for her to do.
I went to the Metrodome swimming, their facilities are brilliant. Whether you’re going solo like me, as a couple, or a family, there is lots to do. Bowling, Food, Gym or Swim. XxX
I just want to thank the staff working on the bowling alley today I can’t remember their names. Myself and my friend were running mega late coming from Leeds due to someone jumping on the tracks and then having to divert everywhere, the staff let us move our booking by over an hour with no hassle and were super kind when they didn’t have to be as technically it wasn’t their fault. Excellent customer service my kids were expecting not to be able to swim today and nothing was too much trouble for them. Much appreciated guys Thankyou we thoroughly enjoyed our visit
Took th3 kids today to the waterpark. Wasn’t too busy. Kids really enjoyed it. Will go again
Always is perfect but last week was very very cold inside and the same water very cold.
Great place for all family members from young to old. Plenty of slides and the wave pool and amazing. Really good place for the little ones also with little slides and a pirate ship when is really well themed
Great place overall, however, I wish the water was much warmer and heating turned up. My little girl’s lips go blue and she starts shaking when we enter the swimming pool. We’re never there too long for that reason really. That’s the only reason I’ve given 3 stars.
We really enjoyed our visit to Calypso Cove. The lifeguards made us feel safe and secure without being fun-sponges and Thomas in particular was super helpful in reuniting my daughter with the goggles she dropped in the plunge pool. It was busy, but not quite busy enough to say it was crowded, with the exception of the changing village, where there was not enough cubicles so I had to wait dripping for one to become available. Some families resorted to changing in the general area, blocking access for everyone else. That was the only bad part of what was actually a brilliant day.
i bust my friends nose here one 🐽 🩸slides are also cool too, if you like to cause mischief there are often people playing catch and you can intercept their balls lol just give them back afterwardsvending machines in the lobby are cool and the showers work well
Update: Bumps been there 10+ years and still not sorted.Horrendous bumps into the car park that have been there years. Venue markets itself as a South Yorkshire attraction but is an embarrassment to the town and to visiting supporters of BFC from the first hurdle. Please sort it.
Not super big, but very good and enough for 1.5 hour with toddlers. The toddlers have awesome time (2 and 4 years old) and infant. They were allowed on most of the water slides. Everything is cleaned and in good condition. I would like just a bit warmer water, but it’s just my preference

Whoever is not a member there, you are missing out! It’s a great place, with fabulous facilities at an affordable price. Meet friends, have a bevie at the café and burn some calories at one of the fully equipped gyms. Members of staff are always on hand to assist. Have a great time!!!

The Metrodome has great facilities for all ages and have recently been awarded a large sum of money….so why not spend some on your water bills and get the showers fixed! You literally are better going under a leaking waterpipe to grab some droplets of water than these. This is ashame, because the pool, gym, classes, bowling and food area are all excellent.
On arrival, there was only one person on the reception desk, so waited a good 5-10 minutes to get my prepaid barcode scanned. Walked down the stairs to the family changing rooms and walked in. We was instantly hit with a strong pong of urine that was comparable to the worst public toilets you could possibly imagine! The changing cubicles was very gruby and the floor walking out to the pools felt very slimy under the feet! The pool area was reminiscent to what you’d expect in the 70s. I very much doubt it’s ever been cleaned since it was built. I witnessed one of the lifeguards having a real intense nose picking session! Her fingers was so far up I’m surprised there wasn’t brain tissue floating in the pool, that’s when I saw her deposit several yields of her “product” in the pool! Disgusting behavior!
Decent slides and doving boards but not worth the money and the price of food is shockingly expensive for what you get.
Excellent place to take kids to swim and burn off energy! Recommend coming early to avoid crowds.
The swimming facilities are brilliant great value and never to busy. The kids loved it. We had food after at the crows nest which was really nice and good value but the service was very slow and the dress code of a couple of the waiting staff doing the festive parties was very inappropriate. Short skirts which we weren’t impressed with when waitress flashed her pants every time she cleared a table.
Here for an awards evening and it was a brilliant night. Traffic was a nightmare coming in and required better management by the hosts.
